Best eSIM for Bali From India in 2026

Airalo vs Nomad vs Holafly for Bali in 2026 — speeds tested in Canggu, Ubud, and Uluwatu. Plus why every airport SIM stall is a rip-off.

Telkomsel at Denpasar airport will quote IDR 350,000 (Rs 1,900) for a 10-day SIM that should cost Rs 600. Here is what to use instead.

## The 2026 contenders

| Provider | Plan | Price | Speed (Canggu test) | Data | |---|---|---|---|---| | Airalo "Connect Indonesia" | 7-day | Rs 540 | 38 Mbps down | 5 GB | | Airalo | 30-day | Rs 1,150 | 38 Mbps | 20 GB | | Nomad | 7-day | Rs 480 | 41 Mbps | 5 GB | | Nomad | 30-day | Rs 1,020 | 41 Mbps | 20 GB | | Holafly | 10-day unlimited | Rs 2,150 | 32 Mbps | Unlimited | | Telkomsel airport | 30-day | Rs 1,900 | 45 Mbps | 25 GB | | Telkomsel app (online) | 30-day | Rs 850 | 45 Mbps | 25 GB |

## My pick: Nomad for trips under 14 days, Telkomsel-online for longer

Why Nomad over Airalo: identical Telkomsel network (the actual carrier behind both), Nomad is ~12% cheaper, and the activation UX is faster. Both run on Telkomsel infrastructure in 2026.

Why Telkomsel-online over Nomad for 14+ days: at the 30-day price point, the physical Telkomsel SIM purchased via their MyTelkomsel app before you fly is cheaper per GB. You'll need a Bali address (your hotel is fine) and an Indonesian e-KTP workaround — most hotels help with this.

## Holafly = overpriced

"Unlimited" sounds great until you realise it caps at 500 MB/day past 5 GB, and Nomad's 20 GB plan is half the price. Skip.

## Activation steps (Nomad/Airalo)

1. Buy in India before flying — Wi-Fi at DPS is patchy 2. Install eSIM via QR but don't activate until you land 3. Switch on data roaming for the eSIM only (keep your Indian SIM on cellular for OTPs) 4. Test in airport, then Grab to your villa

## Speed reality across Bali

- Canggu/Seminyak: 35-45 Mbps consistent - Ubud: 25-35 Mbps (jungle valleys drop to 8 Mbps) - Uluwatu: 30-40 Mbps - Nusa Penida: 5-15 Mbps, plan for offline maps - Gili Trawangan: 3-10 Mbps, basically vacation mode

## Indian SIM roaming — usually a trap

Jio and Airtel offer Rs 4,000-5,000 international packs with "5GB data" but throttle to 256 kbps after 1 GB. Worth it ONLY if you need to keep your Indian number always-on for banking OTPs. Otherwise eSIM wins on price-per-GB by 5-8x.

## Scam warnings

- Airport SIM stalls at DPS quote 2-3x online price. Politely refuse. - Fake Telkomsel kiosks in Kuta — only buy from the official store on Jl. Sunset Road or via the MyTelkomsel app. - "Free Wi-Fi" at warungs — fine for WhatsApp, never log into your bank or load your forex card.

## Pair this with

- Bali visa: Indonesia visa - IDR rate: IDR to INR - Honeymoon plan: Bali honeymoon 6 days

## From your city

Delhi to Bali, Bangalore to Bali.
