Best eSIM for Europe from India in 2026: Airalo, Holafly, Nomad Tested
Three weeks across six European countries with four eSIMs active. Price-per-GB gap was 11x; fastest provider wasn't the most popular.
The eSIM market for Indian outbound travel has matured. As of May 2026, four genuinely usable options for Europe — pick depends on how much data you use.
## Cost-per-GB — 10-day Europe trip
- Airalo Eurolink 10GB: USD 25 (INR 2,420 at 96.8 INR/USD) — INR 242/GB - Nomad Europe 10GB: USD 19 (INR 1,840) — INR 184/GB - Holafly Unlimited 10 days: USD 47 (INR 4,550) — unlimited but throttled after 500MB/day - Jio International Roaming: INR 2,999 for 10GB + 100 mins — INR 300/GB but with voice

## Real speed tests — Paris (Vodafone), Rome (TIM), Barcelona (Movistar)
- Nomad: 87 Mbps median, 23ms latency. Routes through Orange in France. - Airalo: 64 Mbps median, 31ms. Reliable but slower than Nomad. - Holafly: 41 Mbps median, 44ms. Throttle kicks midday for heavy users. - Jio: 73 Mbps median, 38ms. Best for users needing Indian number active for OTPs.
## The OTP trap
Almost every Indian banking app + Aadhaar verification needs SMS to your Indian SIM. Pure-eSIM removes this. Three workarounds:
1. Dual SIM phones: keep Indian SIM active for SMS, eSIM for data. Disable Indian SIM data roaming. 2. Jio International Roaming: keeps Indian number live including SMS at INR 2,999/10GB. 3. Airtel International OTP-only: INR 599 for 10 days, SMS-only. Pair with Nomad for cheapest combo.
## Which to buy
- 2-7 day light trips: Nomad 5GB at USD 12 - 10-14 day standard: Nomad 10GB at USD 19 — best price-quality ratio - Unlimited social media + video: Holafly Unlimited at USD 47 - Business travelers needing OTPs: Jio International or dual-SIM with Airtel OTP
