Best Forex Card for Thailand From India in 2026

Forex cards for Thailand are a minefield in 2026 — markups range 0% to 3.5%. Here's what actually works at a Bangkok 7-Eleven.

Three cards dominate the India → Thailand market in 2026. Only one of them gives you near-zero markup AND works reliably at street-level POS.

## The contenders

| Card | Loading Markup | Foreign ATM Fee | Daily Limit | Annual Fee | |---|---|---|---|---| | Niyo Global (DCB) | 0% | THB 220 (Thai bank) | Rs 2 lakh | Rs 0 | | Scapia (Federal) | 0% | THB 220 | Rs 2 lakh | Rs 0 | | BookMyForex Multicurrency | 0.5% | THB 220 | Rs 5 lakh | Rs 150 | | HDFC Multicurrency | 2.5% | THB 220 + Rs 100 | Rs 5 lakh | Rs 500 | | ICICI Sapphiro | 3.5% | THB 220 + Rs 125 | Rs 5 lakh | Rs 750 |

Live FX: THB to INR.

## My pick: Niyo Global

- 0% markup on Visa interbank rate - Real-time INR debit (not pre-loaded) — your savings account stays liquid - Works at all Thai 7-Elevens, BTS ticket machines, Grab, Bolt - Free DCB savings account, no annual fee

The catch: ATM withdrawal abroad costs THB 220 (~Rs 540) per transaction. Withdraw THB 20,000 at once, not THB 2,000 five times.

## Scapia is a strong #2

Same 0% markup, free, also good lounge access in India (8 visits/quarter at most domestic lounges). Slightly slower KYC than Niyo. Use as backup card.

## Skip these

- HDFC Multicurrency — 2.5% markup means a Rs 1 lakh trip costs you Rs 2,500 extra. The "preloaded" model is dead in 2026. - Airport money changers — 4-6% markup. Last resort only.

## The cash question

Yes, carry cash for: tuk-tuks, street food, small massage shops, beach vendors, temple donations. Roughly THB 5,000-8,000 (~Rs 12-20k) per person for a week.

Get cash from a Thai bank ATM on arrival — Bangkok Bank and KBANK both charge the same THB 220 fee. Avoid Euronet ATMs (the bright yellow ones at airports) — they add an extra THB 150 fee on top.

## Scam warnings

- Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC) — when a card machine asks "Pay in INR or THB?", always pick THB. INR adds a 4-7% markup hidden inside the FX. - Skimming at Patong — use ATMs inside 7-Eleven, not standalone street ATMs. - "Card declined, try again" — if a vendor swipes twice and shows two receipts, check your statement immediately. Niyo + SMS alerts catch this in seconds.

## Loading strategy

For a Rs 80k Thailand trip: - Load Rs 60k on Niyo for cards/POS - Withdraw THB 20,000 cash on arrival (Rs 50k pre-loaded should cover everything) - Keep Rs 20k savings buffer

Don't pre-load full trip — leave headroom in your savings account.

## Connectivity

Pair with an eSIM (Airalo or Nomad) — see our [Thailand eSIM guide]. Skip airport SIM stalls.

## From your city

Delhi to Bangkok, Bangalore to Bangkok.
