  1. 1

    Confirm 6-month passport validity

Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your planned departure from Thailand. If it expires sooner, renew via Tatkal before flying.

  2. 2

    Book return / onward ticket

Airline will check at boarding. A confirmed return or onward ticket out of Thailand within 60 days is required. Open-jaw tickets (e.g. BKK → KL → Chennai) qualify.

    Before flying
  3. 3

    Book first hotel night

Carry a confirmation for your first 1-3 nights. Booking.com cancellable rate satisfies — refund after entry if you change plans.

    Before flying
  4. 4

Carry proof of funds (optional but recommended)

Officially THB 10,000 (~₹24,000) per person / THB 20,000 per family. Officers rarely ask Indians, but cards + ₹5,000 cash equivalent in any currency cover it.

    Before flying
  5. 5

Fill the TM6 arrival card on the flight

Cabin crew hand it out. Fill it completely — flight number, hotel address, length of stay. Lost cards cost time at the counter.

    On the flight
  6. 6

    Walk through immigration

Hand passport + TM6 + return ticket to officer. They stamp 60 days. Total time: 5-30 min depending on queue.

At Bangkok / Phuket / Chiang Mai airport

Document checklist.

  • Passport (6+ months validity)
  • Confirmed return / onward ticket
  • Hotel booking confirmation (first 1-3 nights)
  • Filled TM6 arrival card
  • Proof of funds (rarely checked)

Why Indians get rejected.

  • One-way ticket without onward plan — airline denies boarding.
  • Damaged passport (torn page, water damage) — immigration may reject.
  • Previous overstay or deportation from Thailand on record — flagged.
  • Visiting too frequently (5+ trips in 12 months) may trigger questioning at the counter.
