What changes month-to-month
  • Best months (Apr-May, Sep-Oct): Cleanest weather, full attraction calendar, but flights ~20% more + hotels +30-50%. Book 8-10 weeks ahead.
  • Shoulder season: Best price/value. Weather acceptable, fewer crowds at top sights, flights drop ~15-20%.
  • Off-peak: Cheapest flights + hotels, but expect rain/heat/closures depending on country. Worth it only if budget is tight.
  • Indian school holidays (Dec 20-Jan 5, May 1-Jun 15, Oct): Indian-route flights spike 30-50%. Avoid if dates are flexible.
Turkey specifics

Apr-May (15-22°C, tulip festival) and Sep-Oct are the prime windows, pleasant Istanbul, dry Cappadocia balloon mornings, Pamukkale's pools still warm. Jun-Aug is hot (35°C+) and Cappadocia balloons get cancelled on windy summer mornings (~30% cancellation rate). Nov-Mar is cold + cheap (₹38k Chennai-IST flights) and snow-on-fairy-chimneys is genuinely spectacular but ~50% of balloon flights cancel. Eid (mid-Mar 2026) closes a lot of small shops. Turkish Lira has been volatile, pay in INR via card where possible. Internal links: /visa/turkey for the eVisa walkthrough, /currency/try-to-inr, /best-time/turkey for month-by-month.
