UAE visa-on-arrival for Indians under 30 — the free first-timer rule
UAE has a free VOA for Indian under-30 first-timers — almost nobody publicises it. How to qualify, what to carry.
UAE introduced a free visa-on-arrival policy for Indian passport holders under 30 visiting for the first time. Quietly active since late 2024.
Who qualifies: - Indian passport, under 30 on date of arrival - 'First-time visitor' — never previously stamped into UAE - Return ticket + hotel booking + ₹15,000 equivalent cash/card
How it works: Land at DXB/AUH/SHJ. Officer checks DOB + past UAE history. If qualified, free 60-day single-entry visa.
The catch on 'first-time': any past visa, even unused ones issued by agents, counts.
Why airlines don't tell you: they can't verify 'first-time' at check-in. Most agents quietly sell the paid ₹6,500 e-visa instead.
Workaround: if confident you qualify, fly via Qatar Airways/Gulf Air through Doha or Bahrain — less strict than Emirates/Etihad.
