Japan's eVisa for Indian passport holders launched in September 2025 — ~INR 450 consular fee, processed via accredited travel agencies only (NOT free; not via direct individual portal). Older articles saying 'Japan free eVisa' are inaccurate. For business/family/work, the traditional sticker visa via Chanakyapuri embassy/VFS is still required. Bring (sticker route): passport bio-page, photo (3.5×4.5cm white background), itinerary day-by-day with hotels listed, bank statement (last 3 months, ~₹2 lakh+ balance is typical guidance), employer NOC if salaried. The eVisa is for tourism only (max 90 days).
