Insider notes & gotchas

Critical: Indians are NOT eligible for K-ETA (Korea Electronic Travel Authorisation) — that's the visa-free system for ~110 nationalities and India is not one. Indians must apply for a sticker visa via the Korean Visa Application Centre (KVAC) operated by Sutherland in 5 cities. Fee is ~$40 (~₹3,400). Mandatory: DS-160 equivalent (K-ETA-style online form), passport, photo (3.5×4.5cm), employer letter, ITR (2 years), bank statement (₹2 lakh+ balance), itinerary, return ticket, hotel booking. Processing is 5-10 working days. Since Feb 2025 the e-Arrival Card is also mandatory — fill it online 24-72 hours before flight. 90-day single-entry is the standard issue. See /visa/south-korea for the full document list and /destinations/kr for the trip context, /best-time/south-korea for sakura/koyo timing.
