Insider notes & gotchas
On 19 May 2026 the Cabinet decided to revert the 60-day visa-exemption back to 30 days, effective 21 May 2026 — Indians still get a FREE 30-day stamp on arrival, just shorter than before. TDAC (Thailand Digital Arrival Card) is now mandatory online within 72h of arrival (free). For 31+ day stays, the paid e-Visa (~INR 3,000 single-entry) or DTV digital-nomad visa (180 days/entry, multi-entry). Walk-ins at Royal Thai Embassy only Tue/Thu mornings; collect Wed/Fri afternoons. Bring: original passport (6mo validity), 1 photo (white background, 4×6cm), confirmed return ticket, hotel booking, bank statement (last 3 months). Most Indians wrongly assume the 60-day is still active because pre-May-2026 blog posts haven't been updated. See /visa/thailand for the current rules and /best-time/thailand for when to actually go.
